Sugar Free Angostura Fizz

The Sugar Free Angostura Fizz, also known as the Trinidad Fizz comes to us via the Bitters: A Spirited History of a Classic Cure-All, with Cocktails, Recipes, and Formulas, by Brad Thomas Parsons.

The text of the book states that the original recipe that this was adapted from appeared in the “Special Drinks for the Soda Fountain and Other Recipes” section of the 1908 Dr. Siegert’s Angostura Bitters recipe booklet, but did not reach much fame until included in the famous Baker’s 1946 book The Gentleman’s Companion: Volume 2.

The Sugar Free Wild Hibiscus Sour is adapted from the recipe posted over at BarNoneDrinks.com.  As the Sugar Free Hibiscus Syrup was one of our earlier creations, it is quite refreshing to come up with another use for it other than our Sugar Free Royale with Ease!

The Sugar Free Blue Moon

The Sugar Free Blue Moon is a delicious example of what Sugar Free Creme de Violette can do for you!

This wonderfully herby treat has just the perfect blend of lemon, herbs, and gin that make you crave another.  Very similar to the Aviation, the Sugar Free Blue Moon is a cocktail that deserves to see the light of day again!  For those that missed our Creme de Violette (Yvette) post, regular versions of this ingredient were not available in the USA until 2007, which is a crying shame!

Sugar Free Pink Lady

The Sugar Free Pink Lady is an old, old cocktail.  It may even predate the 1920’s!  This particular adaptation came from a delightful book, Vintage Spirits and Forgotten Cocktails by Ted Haigh, whom many know as Dr. Cocktail.  I greatly enjoy this book, as not only does it give some great old recipes, but it also gives history and context to many of them.

Sugar Free Ramos Gin Fizz

The Sugar Free Ramos Gin Fizz is a cocktail that should be tasted by everyone!  It hails from the Sazerac bar in the Roosevelt in New Orleans.  This is a wonderful place that the wife and I visited for our anniversary and a virtual mecca of drinking innovation in the south.  One such cocktail innovation is the Ramos Gin Fizz.  Our Sugar Free version is a variation on their original recipe.  It’s refreshing, creamy, and absolutely delicious!
